Sleep and Relaxation Supplement Manufacturer – Melatonin, Magnesium and Botanical Blends

Noviatic is a European contract manufacturer of finished food supplements, based in Vilnius and Kaunas, Lithuania. We manufacture sleep and relaxation supplements – melatonin sprays, magnesium formulas, ashwagandha capsules and multi-ingredient evening blends – for supplement brands, pharmacy chains and distributors across 40+ countries, inside our own GMP-certified facility.

WHAT THIS CATEGORY COVERS?

There are two very different products that both get called sleep supplements

The sleep and relaxation category divides broadly into two product types, and they attract different consumers, different retail channels and different formulation approaches.

Single-active or simple combination formats – melatonin tablets or sprays, magnesium capsules, single-botanical formulas. The pharmacy staple. High volume, well-understood by the buyer, straightforward to position.

Multi-ingredient evening blends – combinations of botanicals, minerals and amino acids positioned around a broader relaxation and sleep quality story. These formulas are more common in DTC and health food retail, where the consumer is actively researching ingredients rather than reaching for the most familiar name on the shelf.

Most of the actives here are dosed in milligrams, not grams – melatonin especially, where several EU markets cap the permitted dose at a specific threshold. That means content uniformity matters more than it does in a gram-dosed vitamin: we test uniformity across individual units, not just average potency, on every low-dose formula we run.

Spray format raises the same issue differently, since dose accuracy depends on the metering pump delivering the same volume spray after spray, which we validate on the filling line rather than assume from the pump spec sheet. And because melatonin’s regulatory status varies by market – a supplement in some EU countries, a medicine in others – we flag that at the brief stage, before it affects what dose or claim is viable.

INGREDIENTS COMMONLY USED

What goes into sleep and relaxation formulas?

Melatonin – the most-recognised sleep ingredient in European retail.

Magnesium – citrate, glycinate, malate and bisglycinate forms most commonly specified for this category.

Ashwagandha – standardised extracts most frequently requested.

Lemon balm – commonly included in evening and relaxation blends.

Passionflower – a standard botanical in multi-ingredient relaxation formulas.

Hops – traditionally used in sleep and relaxation formulas, often combined with valerian.

Valerian root – one of the most established botanicals in the European sleep supplement market.

L-theanine – an amino acid commonly included in relaxation and calm-focus formulas.

B vitamins – B6 in particular appears regularly in sleep and relaxation combination formulas.

5-HTP – included in some premium sleep formulas.

FORMATS

Most sleep supplements end up in one of these five formats

Capsules – the default format for botanical extracts, ashwagandha and multi-ingredient blends. Hard shell and vegan HPMC both available.

Tablets – suited to melatonin and magnesium formulas at scale. Chewable tablets are an option for brands looking for a more consumer-friendly format.

Sublingual sprays – melatonin spray is one of our most-requested formats in this category. Fast-acting positioning, convenient bedside format, no water required.

Liquid shots – evening-use shots combining melatonin, magnesium and botanical extracts. Growing format in European health retail.

Powders – magnesium powders in jar or stick pack format for brands building a bedtime drink product. Flavoured options available.

Common questions

What brands ask us about sleep and relaxation supplement manufacturing?

Is melatonin legal to sell as a supplement across Europe?

It varies by market. In some EU member states melatonin is classified as a food supplement; in others it is a medicine. The regulatory position needs to be confirmed for each target market before briefing a melatonin formula. We manufacture melatonin-containing products but regulatory classification and label compliance is the responsibility of the brand and their regulatory advisor.

Magnesium glycinate and magnesium bisglycinate are most frequently specified in sleep and relaxation formulas, though citrate and malate are also common. The right form depends on your positioning and target consumer. Our R&D team confirms the appropriate form during the formulation brief.

Yes, within the fill weight limits. Multi-ingredient blends combining magnesium, lemon balm, passionflower and B vitamins are among the formulas we produce most regularly in capsule format. Where the formula exceeds a single capsule’s fill capacity, a two-capsule serving is standard.

Yes. Our library includes tested formulas across melatonin sprays, magnesium capsules and multi-ingredient evening blends. Most can be adjusted on dose, botanical combination or format before the production run.

MOQ is confirmed per project during the quote and varies by format and formula complexity. Pilot batches are available for new formulations.

Approximately 11–13 weeks from purchase order for an existing or private label formula. Custom formulation adds time – confirmed per project.
