Chewable tablets are well suited to vitamins, minerals and functional ingredients intended for convenient daily use. Common examples include vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, zinc, multivitamin blends and selected botanical or functional ingredients.
The format works best when the active dose can fit into a reasonably sized tablet and the ingredient’s natural taste can be successfully masked or incorporated into the flavour profile.
Taste, sweetness, acidity, texture and tablet hardness are the main formulation considerations. These are assessed together during development to ensure the product is pleasant to chew and remains stable throughout its shelf life.
What is the difference between a chewable tablet and a lozenge?
A chewable tablet is compressed like a standard tablet but formulated to be chewed and swallowed. A lozenge is designed to dissolve slowly in the mouth, delivering the active over several minutes rather than in one bite. The right choice depends on whether your active needs to be swallowed or needs to sit at the back of the throat.
What is the minimum order quantity for chewables?
MOQ varies by format and sugar system and is confirmed during the quote, typically from around 300,000 tablets. Pilot batches are available for new formulations.
How long does a chewable or lozenge production run take?
Approximately 10–12 weeks from purchase order for an existing formulation. Custom formulation, including flavour and stability development, adds time – confirmed per project.
What testing applies to chewable and lozenge formulas?
The same full testing stack as our other formats: heavy metals, microbial count, potency, identity and allergens. Not every test applies to every product; what’s required is agreed with you upfront and confirmed in the specification.
